As the internet gets faster and our smartphones get smarter, video is quickly becoming the preferred content for website traffic. Dr. James McQuivey, Forrester Research, even goes as far to say, “A minute of video is worth 1.8 million words.

Jump On

Even marketing experts are still trying to get on the bandwagon with the fast-growing video trend, so don’t feel like this is a boat you’ve already missed. In fact, you’re just in time! Hubspot experts report that by the end of 2017, 74 percent of all web traffic will be derived from video content. YouTube viewers watch over 4 billion videos per day. Given the choice of selecting text or video, most visitors to any site will choose the video option. People are visual learners, and graphics are good: but, video is better!

This is the right time to implement video marketing into your website, social media platforms or other content marketing campaigns.

Video Will Increase Your Rank

According to research, embedding a video that enhances the content of your landing page of your website increases the chances of it showing up on page one of Google rankings by 53 times. The video can be short or long, professional or rudimentary -- whatever works best for your brand and your campaign.

Video Can Be Versatile in Purpose

There are no written rules about the kinds of videos you should use. Videos can help viewers feel immersed in your product or services. It can inspire them to take action or teach them about a product. When considering what type of video to create, remember that in today’s attention economy every second counts. You’re constantly vying for the viewer’s attention so whether you are making an inspirational video or a how-to video, it better be highly entertaining or highly useful (or both).

Utilize User-generated Content

One of the most popular (and easiest) ways to incorporate video into marketing strategy is to invite your users/followers to upload their own content. Ask your customers to submit video featuring your brand through contests or promotions/offers. It could be videos reviewing your product, the most interesting way of using your product, how your product transformed their life, etc. This gives brand advocates an opportunity to engage with you and you collect content for your social media channels and website.
